Harvey Yau
Undergraduate degree and institution: BSc Quantitative Finance, Chinese University of Hong-Kong, HKSAR, PRC.

Currently in charge of Consolidation and Estimation for Asia within the Financial Planning and Analysis team of GE Healthcare, European Headquarters, Buc, France.



Having graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and having experienced the North American educational system at the Richard Ivey School of Business, I chose the EDHEC MSc in Finance programme mainly to consolidate and further my knowledge of Finance and Economics. I got that and much more!

EDHEC is different from other business schools as it has many of the advantages of a new school such as speed and flexibility, whilst having the infrastructure, financial backing and credibility of a traditional school.

My best memories of EDHEC come from teamwork. In all courses, I worked with friends from other countries on case studies, presentations and projects.  I learnt to listen and think critically of ideas put to the group, to polish ideas and sell them to team mates, and to work-out group decisions and build shared commitment on diagnostic and action plans. We established strong team spirit even after school hours. Play hard work hard is our culture!

Students at EDHEC get strong support from staff. The Career Forum held in January was definitely effective and helped us initiate relationships with world-class companies. Subsequently, I received an internship offer from GE Healthcare European Headquarters. I work for the Financial Planning and Analysis team and am responsible for consolidation and estimation in Asia. At GE, I am plunged into the reality and richness of the business world. My work is fantastic, I enjoy the satisfaction of seeing my efforts make a real impact whilst gaining valuable job experience.

To conclude, EDHEC Business Scool was a very good match given my background and career objectives.  The MSc in Finance curriculum stroke the right balance between academic requirements and professional demands and provided me with the knowledge and technical skills I was looking for. The international nature of the programme and its methods allowed me to work and learn with peers from other countries, providing me a unique opportunity to develop a strong network of relationships at this key stage in my career.
