AIMS Conference at EDHEC

NIKKI HARLE June 9, 2008
EDHEC and Ceram hosted the 17th International Strategic Management Conference, held on the Nice campus between May 28 and 31, 2008.

The annual conference, organised by AIMS (the International Strategic Management Association) was attended by almost 400 French-speaking researchers from around the globe.

The event is eagerly awaited by the management research community. This is down to three factors:

- it gives young researchers a real boost in their research work, helping them to publish their results and allowing them to gain a foothold in the research community;

- it gives global researchers an opportunity to meet up and build international research teams;

- it highlights the increasingly strong links between research and the concerns of business. Many projects explore the success of partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, for example, or the consequences of the widespread interference of financial investors in business organisation management.

The excellent organisation and the fertile debates were key factors in the resounding success enjoyed by the 2008 conference. This highlights the new-found dynamism of strategic management research in French-speaking countries, which can be proud of its achievements in the face of the predominantly Anglo-Saxon research in the field. This is borne out by M@n@gement, the high quality research periodical published by AIMS, which attracts many renowned researchers. The growing competition between institutions to host the conference in the next few years is yet another indication of its excellent reputation.
