MIDEM is the world's music market which brings together the world of music (recording artists, musicians, music producers, distributors and record companies) in Cannes every year for one week. The event is attended by over 10,000 professionals from the music industry and thousands of music fans who receive passes for the numerous concerts which are held every day in venues throughout Cannes.
Organisers of the MIDEM recently approached EDHEC with a request to form a pannel of young speakers to participate in a focus group discussion on Behavior and Consumption of Music and Technology. After an interview in which the candidates had to prove their ability to speak well in front of a public and show knowlegde of the music industry and technology, seven students were chosen by the group organisers to speak at the 41st edition of the MIDEM in Cannes on January 19, 2007.
In return for their participation in the focus group discussion, the students get a pass to the entire MIDEM market, including conferences, selected concerts, MidemNet Forum and the numerous stands and also a pass to the NRJ Awards, the premier music award show in Europe and which are usually reserved for music professionals.
Cannes, only a few kilometers from Nice, is also the scene of the famous film festival in May.
